A New Year is upon us. Welcome 2021!
I've been reading a book by Debbie Macomber entitled "Twenty Wishes". Excellent light reading. It struck me that making lists is a good thing; especially for those of us who forget to do things; this comes with old age, I think.
In this book four women have encouraged each other to compile twenty wishes, (a list if you will), whether it be silliness, serious or anything they'd like to do, haven't done in their lives. Each of these four women happens to be a widow; two who are in their late fifties to early sixties and two who are considerably younger. The book is light reading and fun, and you can get it most anywhere books are sold.
Age really doesn't matter, for wishes are just that, wishes....
I think this year, I will make twenty wishes. And see where it takes me. And maybe I'll get a little more organized.
I am already an avid list maker, although I rarely remember to reread them after I've made them. I begun storing these newer lists on my phone and forget to look at them until I've created another only to discover I've already doubled or tripled an item on said list(s). Before the phone lists, I had scraps of paper....
I still do the scraps of paper thing, especially when it's about grocery shopping, something needed at Walmart, or the pharmacy. Sometimes the scrap of paper contains projects would like to do around my house, things I really need to finish or get done around my house, yard, or Travelers pen.
I tend to duplicate those scraps of paper too. I don't seem to be able to keep them all in the same place, either. My desk looks like a junk yard waiting for a place to happen, like fall on the floor into the cats water bowl, or their food, it's piled high with things not necessary to a functioning desk. I'd never make it in an office setting, ha! I'd like to think I know what's under all that stuff on my desk, that there is some kind of organization....wishful thinking more often than not, and lots of dust.
My dining room table is not for eating, although it does have a small/tiny area where I can have a plate of food, and read a book or watch TV while I eat. It collects mail, junk and other stuff of note, and the inevitable scraps of paper with notes 'to self' on them.
I find forgotten lists on the top of the microwave, too; generally left there because that's where my keys for my truck live, and subconsciously I think if I leave the scraps of paper there or the beginnings of the grocery list, I won't forget to take it with me.
Twenty wishes isn't a bucket list, but it can have bucket list items on it. Twenty wishes is about things you haven't had in your life, haven't done and/or would like to do. Try it, see where it takes you. You might just find something exciting happening in your world or to someone you know.
Happy 2021! May it be happy, healthy, kinder and gentler.
